In 2018 Royal Museums Greenwich will celebrate the 250th anniversary of Captain James Cook’s epic Endeavour voyage with a transformative programme of new exhibitions and major improvement works. To inspire support we created a fundraising campaign to communicate the scale and vision of the Endeavour Project.

To bring the project to life we gathered stunning imagery from the Museums’ archives and inspirational quotes from great explorers. Our brochure features a dust jacket that unfolds to show Cook’s portrait and biography, and a beautiful navigational chart of Cook’s Southern Hemisphere on the reverse. The layout was devised around the concept of ‘new horizons’, with each page split through the centre. Alongside the brochure we produced event invitations and display materials.

Comprised of three buildings offering 600,000 sqft of prime office space, the Forbury Place Estate has created a thriving new urban business district for the South East. The brand and marketing campaign was created with the flexibility to incorporate all three buildings; providing a cohesive brand experience, whilst communicating individual benefits and business messages.

The scheme is the largest and most prestigious development in the region, and the quality of the brand and marketing materials had to match these aspirations. Our promotional work has included the creation of films, graphic animations, direct mail, environmental branding, digital marketing and an onsite marketing suite. Each building has been launched to the market with a hard-back book, supported by a website which brings together all availability for the estate in one site.

Blast were briefed to create a campaign for Forbury Place which could compete with schemes in London. They have achieved this through intelligent design of the highest quality.

Create is an exciting new journal published by Arts Council England as part of its State of the Arts Programme. With the purpose of stimulating discussion about the true value of the arts, it brings together articles, research and poetry by a diverse mix of contributors, from former Prime Minister John Major to performance poet Hollie McNish.

The outcome was an editorially-led design that felt creative, independent, and spontaneous. We commissioned and worked alongside illustrator Lizzy Stewart, whose drawings provide a rich visual response to each section. We also made use of Lizzy’s talents to create four engaging infographics about the role of creativity today, and produced supporting digital assets for the Arts Council England website.

Blast were a fantastic creative agency to work with on this very high profile project for Arts Council England. They were intuitive and flexible in their approach to working with us, and demonstrated a great understanding of what we were trying to achieve with the publication in all of their designs. We’ve had overwhelmingly positive feedback on our Create journal, particularly on how beautiful it is!

Event branding, promo film and website for an A-list night at Soho House, West Hollywood. Hosted by The Who frontman Roger Daltrey and artist Jake Chapman, the event boasted a programme of live music and contemporary British art, all in aid of Teen Cancer America.

The film promoted both the art and music sides of the event. Using red, white and blue paint to create The Who’s classic Mod emblem, we used the vibrations of the band’s music to send drops flying. Filmed in slow motion by DHP Studios, it was featured on a website and on invitations sent out to the exclusive guest list, before being screened at the venue on the night.

Blast are a great company that produced superb branding and an extraordinary digital invitation for the event. Giff and the Blast team were a pleasure to work with and were incredibly generous in their support of Teen Cancer America.

Nesta is an innovation charity on a mission to help people and organisations bring great ideas to life. Dedicated to supporting ideas that can help improve all our lives, with activities ranging from early stage investment to in-depth research and practical programmes.

We have been working with Nesta since 2001 producing integrated campaigns, printed literature, websites, advertising and interactive event experiences. We’ve created internal communications and a series of Annual Reviews and topic brochures. We produce and curate content (illustrations and animations) for various programme launches and prize awards.

We’ve also created a number of identities and guidelines for projects supported and driven by Nesta, including Nesta Impact Investments and FutureFest.

An integrated campaign for families who are ‘looking for adventure’. Working with paper artist Polly Lindsay, we have created posters, press advertising and animated web banners to encourage families to come and discover the events on offer at the Museum during the school holidays. Each poster shows a playful depiction of one of the Museum’s maritime stories, spotted through the lens of a telescope.

Our work has culminated in another campaign, this time for the Museum’s new children’s gallery, named AHOY! Featuring Polly’s paper interpretation of the sign sitting atop the white cliffs at the gallery’s entrance, each letter and character is based around a different theme explored within the gallery.

Conqueror has held its position as a leading high-end paper since it first rolled off the presses over 125 years ago. Although it is still regarded as the world’s best-known paper collection, sales have suffered in recent years from a decline in printed materials and competition from cheaper papers. The company needed to refocus its positioning and re-engage brands that appreciate the value of fine paper.

We designed a 200 page case-bound book to tell Conqueror’s story and prove its status as a modern, pioneering company. Featuring 60 different papers, the book invites readers to rediscover the range. Through its format it challenges expectations about the paper’s conventional use, whilst highly-crafted print techniques demonstrate its versatility. It includes examples of leading brands, large and small, that have used Conqueror to support their brand values and show their commitment to quality. As the centrepiece of the marketing campaign, 50,000 copies have been distributed to a selection of the world’s top creative studios and luxury brands.

We developed an identity that encapsulates the contrasts within the Conqueror brand: its tradition of excellence and its status as a modern, pioneering company. We updated classic brand elements by recrafting the original watermark and the iconic sword emblem, then reinforced them them with the new strapline: ‘Since 1888’. Set against contemporary styling, photography and a fresh supporting colour palette, the identity repositions Conqueror as a relevant, progressive brand.
