The University of East Anglia required a new identity which promoted a unified organisation, giving it a clear architecture and much needed consistency. It also needed to project clear messages and key strengths of the University, such as its interdisciplinary approach and its innovative research. The identity needed to be creative and contemporary in its approach, but also be long lasting and enduring with credibility and gravitas.
The logo itself communicates the fact that the University is widely known as UEA, with the initials drawn in an integrated manner to reflect the importance given to interdisciplinary study. The graphic device at the heart of the logo is an iconic representation of excellence and the creative ‘spark’ which epitomizes the University’s work.
